Privacy policy

The short version. Your photos are used only to make your book. They are never posted, never sold and never used to train AI. We delete them 14 days after your book is delivered and email you when they're gone. The only photos kept are the ones printed in your book: the back cover photo, and the real photos at the end if you choose them for the last pages.

Who we are

Little Chapters is a small family business run by Anna, Andy, Cody and Ryan, the family behind Double Trouble Travelers (@doubletrouble_travelers), based in Queensland, Australia. ABN 35 141 633 957. "We" and "us" means us. You can reach us any time at hello@mininomad.com.au.

What we collect

When you make a book you give us:

Your name and email, so we can send your proof and finished book.
Photos of the people in your story and of your moments. These often include children.
Details for the story: names, ages or roles (like Mum or Nonna), heights if you add them, what happened in each moment, your dedication and your language choices.
Your choices: whether we may show your book in our posts, and whether you'd like our news and offers.

We don't see or store your card details. Payments are handled by Stripe.

Like most websites, our hosting company records basic technical information (such as your IP address and browser) to keep the site running and secure.

How we use it

To draw your family, write your story and make your book, including the proof you check and the changes you ask for.
To email you about your order: your proof, your finished book, and the note when your photos are deleted.
To answer you if you write to us.
To send news and offers, only if you tick the box for it. You can unsubscribe in one tap at the bottom of any of those emails.
To show your finished book in our posts, only if you tick the box for it. Otherwise your book is never shown to anyone.

AI and your photos

We use Google's Gemini on its paid service to help write the story and paint the pictures. On that service, Google does not use what we send to train or improve its models. Your photos are sent only to make your book.

Who helps us

We use a few trusted services to run Little Chapters. They only get what they need to do their job:

Netlify: hosts our website and stores your order, photos and finished book.
Google (Gemini, paid tier): writes the story and paints the pictures.
Stripe: takes your payment. For many orders Stripe acts as the seller of record and handles sales tax and VAT.
Resend: sends your order emails from hello@mininomad.com.au.
Kit: sends our news and offers, only if you said yes.

These services may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and Europe. We choose providers with strong security and privacy commitments.

How long we keep it

Your photos: deleted 14 days after your book is delivered. We email you when it's done.
The back cover photo: one photo, your favourite or the one we pick, is printed on the back cover as the real moment. That copy is part of your book, so it's kept with it for 12 months like the drawings. You can swap it for a drawing on your proof.
Your real photos at the end of the book (only if you choose "Our real photos" for the last pages): one copy of each moment photo is printed in your book files, so it's kept with your book for 12 months like the drawings. The originals are still deleted after 14 days.
Unfinished orders (no payment): everything is deleted after 3 days.
Your finished book (the drawings, the PDF and your private reading link): kept for 12 months so you can read and download it, then deleted. Please download your PDF to keep it forever.
Saved characters (only if you tick the box when you order): the character drawings, names, ages and notes, never the photos, so you can make another book without starting again. Kept for 12 months after your last book, then deleted. You can change or delete them any time from your private My family link.
Order records: a basic record of the sale (date and amount, without photos) is kept as long as the law requires for tax and accounts.
Email list: until you unsubscribe.

Children

Our books are often about children, so we're extra careful. Orders must be placed by an adult (18 or over) who has permission to share the photos of everyone in them, for example as their parent or guardian. Your book is reached only through private links with long random codes, and these pages are hidden from search engines.

Keeping it safe

Your order, photos and book are stored privately, not on the public website. Only someone with your private link can open your proof or your book. Please don't share those links with people you don't want to see your book. We don't look at your book or drawings ourselves unless you tick the box that lets us, or you ask us for help.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us at any time to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it (including deleting your book early). Just email hello@mininomad.com.au and we'll reply within 30 days.

If you live in the UK or the European Union, you also have the rights given by the GDPR. We use your information to fulfil your order (our contract with you) and, for news and offers, only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can fix it. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, or to your local data protection authority.

Cookies

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Our pages remember small things in your own browser, such as your currency and the link to your saved characters, and load fonts from Google Fonts.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. If a change is important, we'll tell customers by email.
